End grain cutting boards are created by cutting wood across the grain and turning the wood on end with the end grain showing. Cutting boards created using this method are highly durable and the end grain can produce a lot of color variation and character that might not be seen otherwise.
These boards can easily last a lifetime if properly cared for. The featured Walnut board is over 15 years old and is my wife's favorite. It's used almost every day and I've re-sanded it one time over the 15+ years which took just a few minutes and a fresh coat of mineral oil.
These cutting boards can be heavy so finger grooves are standard on the boards that I produce. If you prefer not to have finger grooves please note that in your order and I will leave them out.
If the juice groove option is selected your board will come with a continuous groove routed into one face of the board close to the edge, the other face will be flat with no groove.
All of the end grain cutting boards that I produce are treated with food safe mineral oil before leaving my shop and should be re-treated periodically to keep the wood from drying out. A small bottle of mineral oil will be provided with any cutting board that you purchase and larger bottles are available for purchase on our site.
Please refer to the use and care instructions that come with your cutting board and enjoy years of use.
